Andrew Michael

Andrew has worked in the banking sector for over 28 years starting out at Barclays Bank in 1989.

During his time at Barclays, he was able to combine his passion for music with his role at the bank, working within the bank's much celebrated media team based in Soho Square in London.


He built a client base of some of the biggest players in the industry, and has been able to build strong relationships with them, allowing him to call many of them friends.


In 2008 Andrew joined Investec bank and set up their Music & Entertainment Division which focused on niche ways to lend into the sector.

He structured many deals across the entertainment sector, including:


  • Advancing against future royalties in the music space

  • Funding world tours for A-List musicians and bands

  • Funding events including large scale sporting events and music festivals

  • Advancing against grand rights and ticket receipts in the theatre space

  • Providing lending facilities to publishing companies to acquire music catalogue 


His clients are:

Multi award winning musicians, promoters, record labels, global publishing companies, and live event producers

Over the years, Andrew's portfolio of clients and lending book grew exponentially, with him structuring some landmark deals winning him numerous awards in the specialised lending arena along the way, including:


  • Acquisition International – Best Music & Entertainment Lender 2015 & 2016 

  • ACQ Global – Best Niche lender (Music & Entertainment) 2015 & 2016 

  • Corporate Livewire – Best Music & Entertainment lender 2016


In mid 2016, Andrew founded the next level in music & entertainment finance, Ninelives Capital.


Revolutionised the utilities market in Germany when in 1998 he founded Verivox, Germany’s first and largest independent consumer energy portal.  Having successfully sold Verivox in 2015,

Andrew now advises and invests in early stage businesses.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 with Andersen's London office, David spent 20 years in banking in a variety of roles across financial control, corporate treasury, asset finance and information systems. His expertise in complex structured financing and securitisation stems from numerous transactions from both agency and principal perspectives.

David now consults to investors and early stage businesses and is a director of several companies.

Between 1985 and 2016, David has been to 24 Bruce Springsteen concerts.
